Chain Shackles – Quick release for non-rope bondage

For any kind of strap/cuff etc bondage go buy these!!!

So, we don’t do rope bondage – we use it as part of our strap/cuff bondage but due to medical reasons we can’t use it where it has contact with skin.

However, I have sometimes found myself fighting to release Steve from tight bondage when trying to get D Clips or carabiners open, as the loops get stuck, and I have to pull against him or the straps to get him out, this is not ideal at the end of a scene when we are both already tired, but also in an emergency, pulling against him can exacerbate any issues and problems.

The we went B&Q (a UK based shop, but I’m sure you could find similar in any local hardware shop). We found Bow Shackles.  The are the fasted quick release securing mechanism we have found. All I have to do is unscrew the securing bolt and the rings on the straps, or on cuffs etc. just drop out immediately.

They made of stainless steel, and come in packs of one for approximately £3.50 each, not the cheapest but easy to find, and so quick and safe to use – https://www.diy.com/departments/diall-stainless-steel-lifting-shackle-dia-8mm/1521317_BQ.prd We prefer these ones as they have a little more space in the loop if we want to connect a few different things.

You can find a different style a zinc plated D Shackle in a 10 pack for approximately £5.00 in Screwfix – https://www.screwfix.com/p/diall-m8-d-shackles-zinc-plated-10-pack/314ht These are more cost effective, but could tarnish over time.
